November 1978. Lefty Ruggiero (left) sits a at Little Italy bar named Mare Chiaro, on Mulberry Street. While discussing the eternal Lincoln Vs. Cadillac debate, he notices a young man reading the news at the bar. Soon enough, that man will become his best friend, as well as the reason why he‘ll be killed.
Located between Broome and Grand streets, only one restaurant away from where Crazy Joe Gallo was killed, this bar was also seen in the Godfather Part III, several episodes of the Sopranos, among other movies… The film credits are even displayed on the bar‘s walls, next to a Frank Sinatra picture. Even though its name has been changed to Mulberry Street Bar and Little Italy is getting swallowed by its monster neighbor - Chinese like the new owner -, I guess the guy has been smart enough to leave the decoration untouched.
